There are two main types of cartridge faucets: one and two handle faucets. A single handle faucet operates in an up/down motion to adjust water volume and left/right motion to adjust the temperature. From outside, a double handle cartridge faucet is identical to a compression washer faucet. You can tell the difference by noting how the handle feels when used. A compression faucet requires you to tighten down the washer in order to close water flow while a cartridge faucet requires smooth and consistent action to close water flow. When you move the faucet for just ½ turn you are able to move the handle from on to off position.
Families with young children find the touch function extremely useful. It makes the water easier available for the little ones since they just need to tap the spout rather than reach the handle and manipulate it into the desired position. They will seldom leave the water running. Children love to tap the water off just for fun. But even if they forget, the water will be turned off automatically after some time of inactivity. I am not speaking here of the quality and longevity. In today's faucets, they are self-evident. The rubber washer systems have been replaced with ceramic valve cartridges. These cartridges are durable, the seal is tight and the faucets have lifelong warranties for leak-free performance. This may not be true, however, for some low-end items without brand names.
The Kohler K-10433-VS kitchen faucet has a stainless finish and the spout is about 6 inches heigh. The spout also comes out 10 inches over the sink for easy cleaning of larger pots. The best feature of this faucet is that it has an auto stop on the hot water line. This feature removes the possibility of scolding hot water coming from the faucet. It has a pull out spray head with two controls with a memory that knows what spray was used last. Most customers were impressed and pleased with their purchase of this faucet.
