When we decided to build a house I purchased a lot of books about kitchen design. It is advisable to rely on literature as most of the websites about kitchen design are heavily influenced by advertisement. I cannot recommend any of them.
The other essential thing that can enhance the white theme of your kitchen is to add textures. You can select place mats that have different and interesting textures in order to add lots of interest in the kitchen. You can even choose single color texture and then carry it to different areas of your kitchen. This will help in tying the overall effect of the textures into your kitchen. For example you can use the floral textures or arrangements in your kitchen at different areas.

When planning your kitchen first ask yourself what you really need. Do you like to bake and roast or do you prefer fried and boiled food? How much fridge space do you require? How many sinks do you need? Is there 1 cook in your kitchen or do you want enough space for 2 or more cooks? Do you want to have breakfast and simple meals in your kitchen or do you want to use it for cooking only?

There are numerous strategies for maturing wooden furnishings. Generally these include eliminating layers of paint in lopsided patches, leaving remainders of layers that show various hues, or even uncovered wood underneath. The point is to have a 'look' that is provincial, flawed and matured.
Have you seen those 'distressed' pieces in popular furniture shops where the troubling technique has clearly been to squeeze engraves into the lumber or wood, with an instrument in places correctly estimated to be equidistant from each other? This isn't what we are after!
