Getting rid of things and organizing is a great place to start kitchen organization, but the job does not end there. Once you have the minimum of items in the space and they are all organized, it is time to start cleaning. Start with the refrigerator and oven because cleaning solutions may need to sit for some time to penetrate the dirt and grime that has built up. If you have a self-cleaning oven, you will spend less time on this step, but not everyone enjoys this luxury. Clean up spills and stains that have built up and figure out methods for dealing with areas affected by common spills.
There are some great drawer organizers for your kitchen organizing solutions. I personally like the 2 tiered kind with the top used for cutlery and when its pushed back you have a second layer below for other things. For cooking utensils you can either put these in an upright holder on your counter by your stove to help declutter and expand your drawer space or, if you have the drawer space keep them in a drawer.
After the drawers are organized, head to the pantry. This is another case where things are often left to fall apart because the door can be shut. In order to shop smart and know what ingredients you have on hand, organize your pantry. Determine what must be kept in the pantry and then figure out the best way to store it. Some things will stay fresh longer if they are in glass containers. Also be sure edible items are up off of the floor by at least six inches.
