One of the main features that most people find useful when they wish to have a kitchen island is the ability to have extra storage space incorporated into the final design. If you so wish, you can even have a mobile one, which you can wheel out into the garden for when you are entertaining outside during the summer months.
Kitchen islands are a tricky item to successfully add to your kitchen design, but well worth considering when you are remodeling your kitchen. You may be surprised at the increase in convenience in meal preparation and added counter space an island will provide. But, it is hard to visualize the space required and the best size for any island addition, so be sure you get all the information you need to make the best decision for your kitchen.
Placing an appliance on the island may not seem like you are decorating but this serves as both a functional way and decorative way to store a great appliance that you may have. Don't just put any old appliance on the counter area. Instead use your nice fancy stainless steel toaster or blender for the décor. If you are going to decorate with an appliance be sure that the island has outlets or there is one accessible from where the island is located in the kitchen.
