Once things are fresh and covered, dig into your kitchen drawers. This is often one of the most disorganized parts of a kitchen because people think nobody looks in their drawers other than those using them. However, even if this is true, using disorganized drawers adds to stress and frustration when cooking. Everyone knows how annoying it is to reach into a drawer while cooking three of four items on the stove, only to see a giant mess and no whisk, spatula or stirring spoon. Use drawer organizers to divide items into categories and if you feel like there are no organizers that suit your needs, make your own.
Ask yourself these simple questions. How often do I use this item? If regularly used doesn't come top of mind, then toss the item into the garbage or put aside to give to charity. Also, for multiples of the same thing, ask yourself how many do I use? Recently, I found I had multiple wooden spoons, four of them in fact; I really only use 2 of the 4 - why keep 4 when 2 are used? So I put them in a give away pile for charity, in my case Value Village.
There are some great drawer organizers for your kitchen organizing solutions. I personally like the 2 tiered kind with the top used for cutlery and when its pushed back you have a second layer below for other things. For cooking utensils you can either put these in an upright holder on your counter by your stove to help declutter and expand your drawer space or, if you have the drawer space keep them in a drawer.
